The quiet coast.
A short drive from San Francisco, where the Sonoma Coast runs from Bodega Head toward Jenner. Long Game coaches North Bay players by video, booked in Pacific time.
The first home, and the hardest.
Bodega Bay was the first home we ever bought: two acres on the coast, from about 2016 to 2019. It was a project from day one. Walls opened up, construction everywhere, and a ton of work on the house and the outdoor setup for the animals.
It was a weird high and low point, and probably not uncommon for first-time buyers: a project was the only thing we could afford.
You can get through some incredibly hard times, even when it feels like the worst it's ever been.
There were stretches with no power and permit fights that dragged on. We put a ton in, got it back when we sold, and moved on to fifteen acres in Lincoln. The best parts were the moto rides down the coast and the easy, foggy walks on the back roads, with only the dunes between us and the ocean.
